Computer Services Consultant I

to join its team.



THE WORK YOU WILL DO



The

Computer Services Consultant I

assists in providing support in the use of computer hardware, software and mobile devices to FPM users which include USC staff and students.


The Computer Services Consultant I

  • Assists in the ongoing support of FPM PCs and laptops, printers and various IT equipment such as mobile devices and monitoring projectors use in FPM buildings (CDF, SBA, UGW, VBB)
  • Provides workstation technical support and troubleshooting for network printers and mobile devices.
  • Assists with end user questions, issues, and problems. Works with IT equipment and software such as Office 365, Adobe Acrobat Pro, CAD applications etc.
  • Answers office phone in Network Services/IT office when working onsite and answers USC provided zoom phone when working offsite.
  • Assists in training student workers and/or users.
  • Conducts IT related training sessions for end-users which include USC staff and students.
  • Assists in the enforcement of user and IT security procedures as mandated by USC OCISO (Office of Chief Information Security Officer).
  • Stays informed of new developments and technologies in the IT field.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested. The university reserves the right to add or change duties at any time.



PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS



The ideal candidate for the position of

Computer Services Consultant I

meets the following preferred criteria:

  • Good communication and customer service skills
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 2 years of experience providing help desk and user IT Support customer service
  • Experience assisting users with/via remote software (VPN, MS Remote Desktop)
  • Experience installing, setting up and maintaining Windows PCs and laptops (Windows 10, Windows 11), and both personal and network connected printers
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access) and other Microsoft applications such as MS Project and MS Visio
  • Familiar with Adobe software such as Adobe Acrobat Pro, Adobe Cloud suite
  • Knowledge of CAD applications such as Autocad, Bluebeam is a plus
  • Knowledge of computing environments; understands basic networking, Web browsers (Firefox, Chrome, MS Edge), wireless communication and securing Windows based computers (PCs and laptops)
  • Knowledge of operating Macintosh-based computers is a plus



MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS



Candidates for the position of

Computer Services Consultant I

must meet the following minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree; combined experience/education as substitute for minimum education
  • 1 year; combined education/experience as substitute for minimum experience
  • Familiarity with one or more operating systems

The hourly rate range for this position is $26.59 – $29.00. When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, federal, state, and local laws, contractual stipulations, grant funding, as well as external market and organizational considerations.
