General Summary

Unum is looking to hire a ServiceNow Architect to join a well-established team. This person will have a broad understanding of the ServiceNow Platform and be able to effectively communicate and drive technical results to Senior leaders throughout the organization. The ServiceNow Architect will have the most senior design authority on the team and be a recognized trusted expert for the Unum Enterprise. The Architect will be knowledgeable in third party/cloud solutions and lead the successful integration of modern technologies. They will lead the creation of solutions for customers and assist management with product road mapping activities. They will be responsible for the overall design of an application suite and will ensure the delivery from the agile team meets agreed upon architecture standards.



Principal Duties And Responsibilities

  • The ServiceNow Architect will attend daily stand-ups with the development team & assist the Director of ServiceNow to ensure that tasks are assigned to the appropriate developers based on skill and expertise.
  • Will lead new solution design sessions and assist in ensuring the road-map is up-to-date and that work is being prioritized according to the road-map.
  • Resolves architectural uncertainties through prioritization, planning, and execution of architectural sprints and re-prioritize Technology Road-map and portfolio backlogs based on outcomes.
  • Translating business requirements into technical solutions, ensuring that solutions delivered have an excellent customer experience, are secure and scalable, comply with best practices and open standards.
  • Collaborating with other teams within the organization to devise and implement strategic solutions
  • Implement measures to ensure data accuracy and accessibility
  • Determine if possible / appropriate for Shared Services – fit for SS
  • Develop the solution in a way that is doable, scalable, and supportable
    • Solution Design
      • Obtain current workflow / business process
      • Identify sub-processes and business functions
      • Understand non-functional requirements (NFR)
        • Security, performance, data retention, logging, monitoring, reporting etc
      • Data model
      • Data in and data out dependencies (integrations). Source of the data (System of record) and other reference systems
      • Channels of interaction : What are the various interfaces through which the application will be accessed (Web, Email, Internal facing, Chat etc.)
      • User base (internal, external) and roles
      • Technical components needed to support requirements (Case management, RPA, Search, UI, Content Management etc.)
      • Solution diagram from the above
    • High Level Design
      • Product feature mapping
        • Case types, SLAs, notifications, etc.
        • Layers of the application (Foundation, specialized layers)
        • Common functionalities to be identified and approach to develop new
        • Detailed integration mapping
  • Advances architecture roadmap for business area(s) by recommending third party/cloud solutions and Prototyping initiatives.
  • Co-ordinates or participates in tool, technology and service selection, risk assessments and sun-setting in conjunction with technical and business stakeholders ensuring consistency with existing business needs and architectural sustainability.
  • Responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of new and existing features for the existing portfolio of applications for a business area, and recommending areas where new investment is merited.
  • Evaluates technical impacts from and coordinates implementation of new product releases.
  • Participates in sizing and estimation activities with the agile team.
  • May participates in code reviews and sprint retrospectives.
  • Monitor application behavior in production ensure that the application performance system stability are meeting business needs, and takes appropriate action.


Job Specifications

  • Bachelors of Computer Science, with Master degree is preferred, or equivalent relevant experience
  • Demonstrate ServiceNow Depth of Knowledge across the platform including integrations with leading technologies
  • 8+ years of successfully delivering software products in a complex, enterprise environment.
  • Expert in Agile development/methodologies, Test Automation and TDD, CI/CD, DevOps
  • Strong familiarity with ITSM
  • Experience with JavaScript
  • Understands Release Management Process (Plan, Build, U/A Testing, Prepare, Deploy)
  • Takes a logical, analytical approach to problem solving and pays close attention to detail
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; experience leading groups of people through discussions, technical or otherwise.

The base salary range for applicants for this position is listed below. Unless actual salary is indicated above in the job description, actual pay will be based on skill, geographical location and experience.

$103,600.00-$202,100.00

Additionally, Unum offers a portfolio of benefits and rewards that are competitive and comprehensive including performance-based incentives, healthcare benefits, insurance benefits, paid time off, and a 401(k) retirement plan with an employer match up to 5% and an additional 4.5% contribution whether you contribute to the plan or not. All benefits are subject to the terms and conditions of individual plans.
